A Poem for Alee

The milky way is contained within her being
Stars illuminate her irises and Orion’s belt freckles her neck

She holds the power of entire planets in her smile-
If only she’d smile.

The universe warned her that she musn’t expose herself
But galaxies don’t like to be contained

They want to shine with the brightness of a thousand suns
Suppressing them is exhausting

She does her best to lock them deep inside her pupils
and that’s why her smile never meets her eyes

They remain concealed in a separate realm.
