My Heart Exposed

Everyday I fail to meet the standard of perfection
and expect from you forgiveness along with resurrection
An eraser for my disasters
Eternal life for this cadaver

A dead man breathing, staggering I walk on jagged glass
as mangled as my broken heart and torn up as my past
My view of you distorted like a carnival mirror
Deceived, thinking gouged out eyes will help me see you clearer

I place you in a little box to help me comprehend
how someone so infinite would dare to call me, "friend"

But you cannot be contained

Creator of the moon and stars
Protector of my fragile heart
You make all things new

Corrector of my imperfection
Atlas to my indirection
I give my all to you.
